I hope everyone is enjoying the fall weather we've been having this week. Just a few quick notes for next week. 1. The checklist for the week is attached below. 2. Just a reminder to try to pick up the instructional materials from Coonley. Items are available for pick up from 8am - 3:30pm from the main doors. We will be using these materials next week. 3. On Tuesday afternoon, Ms. DuBose will be visiting our classroom to give a lesson. You should have received the letter from her in an email from me this morning 4. Finally, we will be starting to use Spelling City next week. Hopefully, this will be the last website I will have to share for a while. This is the login link: https://www.spellingcity.com/Log-yourself-in.html Students should be able to choose the Login with Google option. I have practice materials on there for them to try if they would like to test it out. Best, Ms. Clementz
Hello, Happy Friday! Thank you to everyone who attended the Open House last night. I posted the slides on my classroom website if you would like to check them out. Just a few notes for next week: 1. The checklist for next week is attached below. Some families have found it helpful to print these out to check off as the week goes along, but this is completely optional. 2. Next Friday, we are having our virtual author visit from 11:50am - 12:30pm. I have attached the information below if you are interested in purchasing the book they will be speaking about. 3. We are soon hoping to have another instructional materials pick up at Coonley. I will let you know more details early next week. 4. An email about Scholastic Book orders went out this week. This is a completely optional order. I wanted to send it in case families wanted to order some new books. Please reach out if you are looking for any book recommendations. 5. We are still awaiting CPS guidelines for TRC reading level testing. I am hoping to start testing as soon as I can! Have a great weekend. Enjoy the warm weather! Best, Ms. Clementz
Hello everyone, Thank you yet again for making this first full week of second grade so successful! I feel like we're settling into a schedule, which has been super helpful. We will slowly continue to add some more technology and parts to it as we go, but I want the students to get used to everything at a slow pace. Here are a few items for next week: 1. I have attached the weekly checklist below. Please refer to it for student assignments. I plan to reach out if your student is missing assignments. 2. As explained yesterday, we will be starting reading small groups with our TA, Ms. Abby. The schedule is available on the checklist. I will be reminding and assisting students on when and where to go for that. 3. We will be starting another online math program this week that will help students build fact fluency called Xtramath. You will be getting an email sent to you today from the website with how to get your student on. I have also attached some additional information. It would be helpful to get it set up, as we will be using it on Monday. 4. On this upcoming Thursday 9/24 at 6:30pm, we will be having our second grade curriculum night/open house. This will be an individual session with just our classroom. I will be sharing the Meet link next week. Have a great weekend, Ms. Clementz
Happy Friday! We all made it through the first week of remote learning!! Thank you so much for all of your behind the screens help this whole week. Remote learning would not be successful without your help, so thank you so so much. Pretty soon we will all be good at playing the tech support role! :) I have attached the checklist for next week (9/14 - 9/18). There will be more Google Classroom assignments now that the students are more used to using it and this will be how I check in with learning. Have a great weekend, Ms. Clementz
Here are the slides from both the whole 2nd grade presentation and my independent presentation:
Good Afternoon,
I hope everyone was able to have an enjoyable summer even during these crazy times! I am so excited to welcome your students back to school next week to start second grade. I wanted to reach out to provide some information, however more will be coming in the next few days as well! First, I hope everyone will be able to attend the Parent Remote Learning Session tomorrow night at 6:30pm. We will start off presenting as a whole second grade team and then break out into individual classrooms for more specific details and questions. No problem, if you are unable to attend I will be posting the slides soon after on my website. Here is the link for the Google Meet for tomorrow night: 2nd Grade Remote Learning Presentation Second, student instructional materials pick up is occurring this week. We are putting out suggested days to try to assist in socially distancing and avoiding congestion. We are giving out standard (identical contents) grade level bags. If you purchased Yubbler supplies please make sure that you get a Yubbler tagged bag. Parents will enter through the playground entrance and pick up their bag in the MPR and proceed out the Bell exit. Second grade's suggested day is this Friday (9/4) from 9am to 3pm, however if you need to come Thursday you can do that as well. Finally, in order to gather more up to date information I am asking parents to fill out this Room 102 Google Form. This way I can have all the emails I need to get out information to everyone who needs it and get to know your student better. I hope to meet everyone tomorrow night virtually and I'm looking forward to working together with all of you this school year! Best, Ms. Clementz |
